Once we got on the correct freeway, (Bart drove 60 miles passed the right exit, which he will have to blog about later) we drove through Phoenix and up to Sedona. Sedona is a beautiful town that is a mix of Moab and Park City. We shopped and ate and walked around but it was FREEZING. So we drove up Oak Creek Canyon to Flagstaff where we stayed the night and ate sushi for the first time in months. Yum yum.
The next day we drove from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is amazing, one minute while driving there were trees then all the sudden out of no where this mile high canyon opens up and engulfs everything-but on the other side of the canyon it is flat and keeps going.
There was a 2 hours traffic jam on U.S 93 because of the new bridge that is being built over hoover dam. The construction was amazing to see as we drove by on the old road which is still on top of hoover dam. The bridge is just hanging there. It dwarfs everything. Very impressive.
We tried mochi ice cream and boba at china town. Mochi is a Japanese rice cake made of glutinous rice pounded into paste and molded into shape. Then they wrap it around ice cream or sherbet.
Boba is another name for the sweet, chewy, tapioca balls found at the bottom of the drink. They are slimy little things but I think they have a slight hint of licorice flavor.
