The LIST

I am a list maker. I come by it naturally....both my parents. But over the last 14 months, I have been learning how to not get much done on my list. Everyone "knows" how much time and energy and attention children are but I'd still like to get something crossed off my list daily. I now have modified how I make my list. My list BC (before child) would have said "get new duvet cover and pillows". Now, it is broken down into small tasks that I might be able to manage and eventually get crossed off.  Hey, I really do like to cross things off the list.

 The list now reads-
Go to Joann's
Find coupons
Find material
Buy pillows
Buy pillow forms
Unpick pillows when you realized they aren't exactly what you want
Go to another fabric store
Buy more material because you decide to make pillows reversible
Buy buttons
Buy thread
Put on new sheets
Buy mattress topper for bed
Have Bart sew all my ideas
Go back to fabric store
Buy Bart new scissors-since he is the tailor
Take old stuff to the DI
Find new pillows that I bought 2 years ago
Take pictures of bed
Blog
Tell Bart how grateful I am that he sews

I bought the square European shams from JCP, but then decided to unpick them and have Bart sew different material on the back, so that they could be reversible and I could have different looks to the bed.

Moral of the story: It would have been cheaper and easier to buy a duvet and pillows, but I couldn't find anything I liked and so I am in debt to Bart for helping me make a duvet and pillows that I love!

Looks fabulous. Love the colors and the patterns. Classy and timeless. I don't know of any other man that sews. You are SO LUCKY that you married your man.

I LOVE them! Super cute and classy. The yellow are my personal favorite and I love that it's reversible so they'll last twice as long (because let's be honest-we get new pillows when we get tired of them, not because they wear out!)

Of course Bart sews. Seriously - he is a super freak! In a good way. What can Bart NOT do? That's what I want to know.

Amen to changing your expectations and definition of productivity! Look how much more it looks like you can accomplish when it is broken down!
I just re-did my bed/room about 6 months ago too and it's yellow, black, grey and white. We must be friends!!!

And I had to laugh at Bart being more domestic because it sounds like me. My pinterest projects are really Adam's...we must be friends!!!

so cute. :) And yes, buying is always faster & easier and usually also cheaper than making. But when you have exactly what you want in your head...
Love your redone pillows. We're still working on finished our bedroom decor and it's grey, navy and mustard. Still working up the courage to get my duvet made...

Love the look of your new bedding! It looks absolutely fabulous! I find that when I need something sewn I have to turn to Brian to sew it for me. I started taking a simple sewing class so that hopefully he won't out sew me for long.

Way to go!

Looks fabulous! You have such good taste :)
If you get to the end of the day and haven't crossed enough off your list, add the things you DID get done during the day (that weren't on your list) to your list, and then cross them off. It is oddly satisfying.
