I added a poll because I would like your opinion on which color you like best for the hardwood floors upstairs. You have three options-any help would be greatly appreciated.
Left is Jacobean, middle Special Walnut and right is Dark Walnut.
Jacobean: dark with a black tone
Special Walnut: the lightest
Dark Walnut; darker with a warm chocolate tone

i loved our dark walnut at our other house. it's hard to tell from the pictures the true colors. the regular walnut would look nice too though.
I like the dark walnut.
Whatever you choose will be great cause then you will accessorize it all and make it look great.
I'm not a dark floor person so I don't have the vision, yet!!!

Congratulations on the new house! It looks like it has great bones. I have a love/hate relationship with buying a new "old" home. It requires SO much work to get it just the way you want it. If that is actually something that is ever attained. Oh, and I am liking the dark walnut stain. :)

I definitely like the the two walnuts. The lighter one is my most favorite but like your mom said-whatever you choose will look great because you'll match it all perfectly!
From my "interior design" stand point I would definitely go with the Dark Walnut!
